Organizational mergers, restructuring, and in particular layoffs can have a negative effect on many dimensions of employee morale and engagement among the “survivors.” Looking at the integrative model of organizational behavior used throughout this course (Figure 1-1 in the text), it seems that a poorly managed restructuring might affect virtually any of the mechanisms identified. Based on your own knowledge and experience, choose what you think is the most important mechanism likely to be negatively impacted by organizational restructuring and explain why.
