Aspects of accountability within government

Chapters 9-13 in Holzer & Schuester each focus essentially on aspects of accountability within government, whether that be budget management, performance measurement, program-level evaluation, program assessment, or using metrics to help narrow down or make meaning from large amounts of data.

The US federal government is massive and so there is always concern for accountability, which can be defined as “How can 546 people (435 U.S. Representatives, 100 U.S. Senators, the Vice President, the President, and 9 Supreme Court Justices) hold the roughly 2.1 million civil servants and 1.4 million active duty military personnel accountable for managing over $4 trillion of expenditures each year?”

Explain in some detail the three (3) things you believe must be done better to ensure that accountability happens and why each would make the system more accountable. [
