Directions for Leadership Analysis Research Paper:
Congratulations! Your leader has been approved and you are ready to get started on your research paper. The research paper will be worth 30
points and must be between 5 to 8 pages with an additional pages for the title and reference page. (Title and reference page does not count for
the 5-8 page research ). The Leadership Analysis Research Paper is due at the beginning of class on November 24th, 2014.
Your research paper must be typed using the Time New Roman 12 point font, doubled spaced with 1″margins and in a folder. The research
paper must follow the APA format and written in third person. Make sure you check your spelling.
You are required to use three to five literature references (all journal articles used must be peered reviewed articles as discussed during our
Library Research Workshop on October 8, 2014). You may use your leadership text, Leadership: Research Findings, Practices, and Skills, as a
reference to cite the leadership theory or theories you choose to use.
A grading rubric has been included. The purpose of this rubric is to help you outline and think through your leadership topic carefully and
organize it logically before you start writing. Before you begin to write your research paper, do your research and use the grading rubric to
outline your research paper. Check your outline to make sure that the points covered flow logically from one to the other. Include in your
outline an Introduction, a Body, and a Conclusion.
INTRODUCTION – Introduce your leader and provide a brief summary on why this leader has been important to society. State your thesis and the
purpose of your research paper clearly. What is the chief reason you are writing the paper? State also how you plan to approach your topic.
Explain briefly the major points you plan to cover in your paper and why readers should be interested in your topic. Use leadership theory and
empirical evidence to support your facts.
BODY – This is where you present your arguments to support your thesis statement. Find a supporting arguments for each position you take and
make sure to use leadership theory and empirical evidence to support your argument.
A) Summarization of individual personal leadership traits, characteristics, leadership style and how it was used, sources of power and influence
tactics using leadership theory and/or empirical evidence to support your argument.
B) Identification of the leader’s strengths and weaknesses using leadership theory and/or empirical evidence to support your argument.
C) Discuss the ethical issues your leader faced and what was the resulting actions taken by your leader using empirical evidence to support your
examples.
CONCLUSION – Provide a rational for choosing your leader. Restate or reword your thesis. Summarize your arguments. Explain why you have
come to this particular conclusion.

B) Provide thesis statement and the purpose of your research paper
2. Body:
