1. Go to the CDC’s “Genomics and Health Topics” web page. 2. Browse common diseases and other health-related topics. 3. Select one of the topics listed, or one of your own choosing 4. Search for one article on the most current (last 5 years) research (single study) on the selected topic or disease as the focus of your discussion posting this week. Try to locate research that also addresses the epigenetics of the topic or disease. 5. See next for the research design and statistical parameters needed in the study for the discussion. A) Statistics: Identify in your initial response the following elements from the article: 1. Type of study performed (e.g., observational longitudinal, randomized controlled trial) 2. Design (e.g., repeated measures, pretest/posttest) 3. Analytic technique (e.g., cross-tabulation, ANOVA) 4. Test statistic(s) used to analyze the data (e.g., Chi-square, F test) B) Epidemiology: Discuss briefly what is known, what is not known, and what research still needs to be done according to the article authors and the CDC information. C) Answer the question: How does current knowledge address the role of lifestyle modification to change the risk of developing the disease or condition?
