DETAILED POWER POINT PRESENTATION
Communicating a history of present illness (HPI) draws on many skills—oral communication, summary, brevity, attention to detail, and professionalism, to name a few. You must ensure that you represent the patient accurately and, in effect, become the patient’s voice.
For this Video Assignment, you practice delivering a comprehensive history of present illness in video form, as if you were doing so in front of colleagues.

TO PREPARE
· Review the Kaltura Media Uploader resource in the left-hand navigation of the classroom for help creating your self-recorded Kaltura video.
· Select an appropriate patient from your clinical practicum for which to prepare a full history of present illness (HPI).
· Review the components of a comprehensive HPI.
· Ensure that you have the appropriate lighting and equipment to record the presentation.
VIDEO ASSIGNMENT:
· Record yourself presenting the history of present illness (HPI) for your clinical patient. In your presentation:
· Dress professionally with a lab coat and present yourself in a professional manner.
· Display your photo ID at the start of the video when you introduce yourself.
· Ensure that you do not include any information that violates the principles of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA). For example, do not use the patient name or any other identifying information.
· Present the full HPI on the patient. Include the seven (7) aspects of the HPI, pertinent patient history, and medications.
· Be succinct in your presentation, and do not exceed 3 minutes.
