Post an explanation for how you think the cost-benefit analysis in terms of legislators being reelected affected efforts to repeal/replace the ACA. Then, explain how analyses of the voters views may affect decisions by legislative leaders in recommending or positioning national policies (e.g., Congress' decisions impacting Medicare or Medicaid). Remember, the number one job of a legislator is to be re-elected. Please check your discussion grading rubric to ensure your responses meet the criteria.

Legislator's Re-election and Cost Benefit Analysis Affecting Efforts to Repeal The ACA.

The enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as the patient protection and affordable care act is a comprehensive healthcare reform law passed in March 2010. The ACA had three primary goals in place:

*Availability of health insurance to more people providing consumers with subsidies lowering the cost of low-income households between 100%-400% of the federal poverty level (FPL).

*Expand the Medicaid Program to ensure it covers all adults with a low income below 138% of the FPL.

*Supporting innovative medical care delivery methods set to lower the cost of health care in general. HHS, (2018).

Ever since the enactment of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, the legislators create accessibility and affordability of care. This reform has reduced the number of uninsured Americans, and expanded Medicaid eligibility, allowing more people to be covered. (Buettgens et al., 2016).

They have been efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act by the legislators. Congress passed the bill to support the notion to “repeal and  replace” the ACA but this action failed. The annulment was influenced by self-interest to be re-elected.

Legislator's cost-benefit affects this effort to repeal and replace the ACA which was subject to politics, debates, and controversies subject to voter's support. Buettgens, 2016 exclaims that politicians can misinterpret information just to convince the public to get voters' support. Politicians who run for office will try to gain voters' support by opposing the bill in order to meet the expectations of their voters.

Political engagement is very crucial in influencing turnout, and insured voters. Information because potential voters with coverage through the ACA will attribute these benefits to the Affordable care act. The motives explain they are not aware of public programs but the voters that benefit from this coverage will always change their political views. (Courtemanche et al., 2023).

Obamacare has enabled over 20 million Americans to get coverage and politicians will support that move to likely gain extra votes from the supporters. Significantly, the likelihood of legislators will increase leading to re-election for another term.
