One quality that can help leaders work better with others is open-mindedness. Everybody who works in a group has a unique perspective on their goal, so it is important that everybody listen to everyone else, even if they do not necessarily agree with that person’s ideas in general. The leader should allow everyone to share their perspective and then develop a game plan based on those suggestions to ensure everyone has a voice and can contribute (Beebe et al, 2022, p. 218).
Another quality is patience. There may be times when groups will disagree or fail to get along with each other. If such scenarios begin to build tension, it can become difficult to restore peace and order to the group. As such, patience would allow a leader to intervene and help both sides settle their differences. Without patience, the leader’s intercession could potentially make the issue worse since it would then add tension with the other members involved in the argument.

The following characteristics have served me well as a leader in my organization: It is essential to respect the ideas, emotions, and efforts of others. Leaders should strive to make all individuals feel as though their opinions matter. Leaders should foster an environment of open communication where employees feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions without fear of reprimand. Teamwork, Leaders should promote teamwork so that members can consolidate their resources and generate the most innovative ideas. When formulating strategies, leaders should pay attention to what those around them have to say and consider their feedback. Leaders should be able to identify problems and collaborate with others to develop viable solutions. Leaders are obligated to ensure that all group members are treated fairly and that their opinions are taken into account. Leaders must ensure that all members of their team are pulling in the same direction by holding individuals accountable for their efforts. Permit your colleagues to theorize methodically about the current process and encourage them to express their creativity.

A good sense of humor is one of the things that I look for the most. It is often an indication of both good spirit and a sharp mind. Having a strong spirit allows someone to adapt well to pressure and get things done. A sharp mind is always a good thing to have in tech, it means the individual might create clever solutions to complex problems. In addition to a sense of humor I look for humility. I think humility is hard to come by these days but it is such a benefit to the individual and whoever is leading them. People with humility are always willing to take outside information into consideration as a way to do things. This results in the individual experimenting with everyone's way of doing things and often finding something that works really well for them. When I was in the Navy this was a big lesson for me, by accepting that someone always knows more than me about something I was able to pick up a lot and make a ton of progress.
