Preparation and planning are essential in ensuring success in any endeavor. There are

various reasons why individuals should consider developing a study plan. One of the most

significant is to keep progress and stay focused as they complete every progress goal as well as

the task related to it. This paper will include the current strengths and opportunities for

improvement based on the study, SMART goals for the quarter, as well as tasks that need to be

completed to accomplish each goal, and the resources that need to be used to accomplish the

goals and tasks.

Strengths and Opportunities for Improvement

After completing the pretest, I realized that there is so much content that I am

comfortable with than I expected. In this case, I am comfortable undertaking these areas, even in

real-life experiences. In a bid to pass my certification exams, I have identified that one of my

strengths is knowledge of ethical and legal principles. I can assess individuals from various

populations through the proper application of ethical and legal principles. Today, healthcare

services involve treating individuals of diverse social and cultural groups, which requires a more

profound knowledge of legal and ethical principles. Also, throughout my clinical experience, I

understand that this kind of knowledge base helps improve care delivery and patient outcomes.

Another area of strength is advanced pathophysiology. This is primarily the case for developing

the appropriate treatment plans for the patients. Additionally, with this, it is easier to assess the

patient’s health status comprehensively and identify some of the early stages of the disease.

Also, there is content that I need to freshen up since I do not feel like I possess any

confidence in it. However, identifying these areas offer an opportunity for improvement. One of

these areas is advanced assessment and clinical reasoning among adolescents and children. I

identify this as an area of weakness because I do not possess any experience dealing with

adolescents and children. Another opportunity for improvement is knowledge regarding the use

of psychometrically validated tools, like DSM-5, the HEXACO, and the Adverse Childhood

Experiences International Questionnaire (ACE-IQ). Up to this point, my preceptor and I have

utilized DSM-5, GAD7 still have some tools to know. This reduces my confidence when it

comes to diagnosis. However, despite identifying my various strengths and weaknesses, I must

consider expanding my overall knowledge while improving my weaknesses.

SMART Goals

Goal 1- I will list the areas where my knowledge base is weak and those areas where I have a

more substantial knowledge base.

Task 1- After reviewing the course readings, I will make study plans with my peers to help me

question the study content.

Task 2- I will write my strengths and weaknesses every week.

Task 3- I will revise as well as adjust the weak areas that require more effort.

Goal 2-By the end of this week, I will search for the various weekly readings and material

sources needed in my course to assist in preparing for the national certification.

Task 1- I will set specific hours every day to help study the weekly readings and material

sources.

Task 2- I will create a timetable that outlines what days of the week I am supposed to study

specific material.

Goal 3- I will arrange a meeting with my preceptor to guide me on improving on my weak areas

and arrange for group discussions with my peers to help strengthen my weak areas.

Task 1- Ensure face-to-face interaction with my peers and instructors to ensure effective

guidance on how to improve my weak areas.

Task 2- Develop questions for my preceptor and try to acquire knowledge that will assist in

preparing for the National Certification exams.

One way to measure my progress is through assessing my discussion and assignments

grades and considering the overall feedback of the preceptor. Another way is to look up my goals

and ensure that all are successfully established. I believe that the coursework will help me

improve my areas of weakness and continue polishing up on what I already know. Also, I believe

in group work since my peers will help me acquire knowledge on what I did not know, as well as

help me review the course work. As a result, my timetable will include reviewing my module

courses and engaging in study groups. Below is my timetable.

Various resources will be effective in accomplishing my goals and tasks. One of them is

to participate in study groups comprised of nurse practitioners’ students. The knowledge and

strategies of this group will help me prepare for my exam (Zerwekh & Edd, 2022). Another

resource that I plan to use is the utilization of the mnemonic strategy. This resource will be

essential in boosting memory on essential information. This strategy will be effective in linking

my previous knowledge to my newly acquired information. Another resource is the use of online

resources. These resources will help in finding relevant knowledge regarding my goals and tasks.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is essential to prepare and make comprehensive plans that will aid in

passing the exam. The assignment is of great essence as it assists me in enhancing my chances of

passing my exam by identifying my areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. Also, I

can develop my goals and identify the resources that will aid in achieving the goals and tasks. I

will ensure that I stick to my study plan to succeed in the board exam.
