Original connections to the material are drawn, and you are able to connect what you have learned from the video, and other sources, and incorporate it in your answers whenever it is appropriate.
- Explain language development in individuals and explain the sensitivity period. Give an example to explain the sensitivity period after defining it.
- What are the theories of language acquisition, list them and explain each one by giving examples.
- Language Culture and Thought,
A) Explain these three concepts and the relationship between them.
B) Give examples to illustrate each concept and the relationship it has with one or both of the other two concepts (does language affect culture? does culture affect language? does language affect thought? does thought affect language? does culture affect language, and thought? etc…)
C) What are the different hypotheses around the connection of these concepts (Whorf-Sapir hypothesis) etc. - How do we represent thoughts in our minds? Explain visual representation and verbal representation by giving examples.
