Using Student Learning as a Measure for Institutional Effectiveness
Highly impactful institutions of higher education will create a condition where student learning will emerge and opportunities for growth and development will be obvious at both the individual and systems perspectives. While this may be the aspiration, it can be a struggle. The goal for this activity is for you to create a PowerPoint presentation which will explore from both an institutional and student learning perspective how careful examination of student learning can tell us a lot about the overall institutional effectiveness.
Your PowerPoint presentation should include the following and completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. Use clear headings that allow your professor to know which bullet you are addressing on the slides in your presentation. Support your content with at least three (3) citations throughout your presentation. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for the presentation. Include a reference slide at the end. Follow best practices for PowerPoint and Prezi presentations related to text size, color, images, effects, wordiness, and multimedia enhancements.

· Component 2: (5- slides) An examination of the degree to which this measure can give us effective information regarding the quality of the institution and the student learning.
· Component 3: (5- slides) An overview of the potential challenges of using this important measure. How does the relative success (or lack thereof) of student learning perhaps give us some potential miscues regarding this important outcome?
· Component 4: (2-3 slides) Conclusion – Synthesize your thoughts and ideas presented.
