Discussion Thread: Culture of Nursing Education – Faculty
The faculty in any nursing program sets the tone for the department/school. As a nurse leader, you must understand your faculty, both individually as well as
corporately. To thrive in leadership, you must be able to commit to change when needed while at the same time encouraging others in the need for said
change. Trust is required for the stimulation of change. After reading Chapters 5 and 7 in the Longman text, you will answer the questions posed after each
chapter. You may want to consider the information in this week’s readings from Ruben et al.
Focus your assessment on the school at which you currently teach or one to which you are personally connected (such as a previously attended school, if
you are not currently teaching in higher education). Please use pseudonyms for the school and the people you are assessing. This exercise will be your
beginning review for Academic Culture Evaluation assignment due later this term.
In addition to the end of chapter questions, explore the biblical worldview perspective on the culture of a group, attitudes, and change.
