IMPLEMENT, OPERATE, OPTIMIZE

This phase of the Network Design Project will address the Design, Implement, Operate, and Optimize phases of the Cisco PPDIOO network lifecycle. Within this assignment, you will implement the proposed design, identify how it operates, monitor elements (such as performance and security), and propose improvements for the current network as well as a future network design for the global ISP. This final phase must also use relevant and current scholarly and industry research to explain how to resolve problems, support current operation, and optimize and improve performance, scalability, high availability, and security for the future improvement of this solution.
I. Implement the proposed design. (500 words, 3 scholarly sources)
You must include with your submission the packet tracer file that demonstrates your functional, routable network; this is not intended to simply be a Visio-like diagram, it is intended to be a functional network.
A. Use the provided tools in course to implement the designed network.

  1. Cisco Packet Tracer (I need to see that your design works; I need to be able to ping the different devices in your network successfully)
  2. Include the appropriate simulator files along with the final paper in the submission.
    B. Implementation must precisely meet the stakeholder and design specifications.
  3. The network must be fully functional and testable by the professor.
  4. All networking protocols, LANs, WANs, firewalls, and SSH access must be fully configured and operational in an optimized state.
  5. Examples:
    a. Appropriate IP addressing design with both IPv4 and IPv6 where relevant is important.
    b. The appropriate networking protocols must be selected and configured, per the recommendations in the initial design, according to industry best practices, and according to relevant supporting research.
    c. All packets in the implementation must be switched and routed properly to their destinations and returned properly to their sources.
    d. Packets must use the best path at all times, either through dynamic, hybrid, and/or static mechanisms.
    e. Routing and switching between various protocols must be optimized using strategies ranging from route redistribution to route reflectors and/or alternatives.
    f. Appropriate WAN connections and protocols between the physical and remote localities
    g. Appropriate edge connections and protocols are necessary.
    h. Appropriate LAN connections and protocols are necessary that seamlessly operate with the higher-level design.
    i. Proper organization is necessary using strategies such as VTPs, VLANs, trunking, firewalls, and/or other standards down to the switching level of the network.
II. Operate (500 words, 3 additional scholarly sources)
    A. Run simulations within the simulator tool.
    B. Monitor the environment, identifying issues that require correction and optimization.
    C. Document this in the final paper.
III. Optimize (500 words, 3 additional scholarly sources)
    A. Proactively identify any future problems that could arise through the testing of the operational network.
    B. Write a concluding plan on how to maintain the network, optimize it, and plan for future improvement.
    C. How can the design become more highly available, redundant, scalable, and secure?
    D. How can the flexibility and accessibility of business applications improve?
    E. How can total cost of ownership decrease?
IV. Executive Summary (500 words, 3 additional scholarly sources)
    A. Identify limitations of the network design and recommendations for future improvement based upon both research and the optimization analysis.
    B. Conclude the project with an overarching summary.
