IV. Rate the LinkedIn Summary

(a) Self-Rating: After completing the LinkedIn Summary, read the summary as if you were reading it for the first time, through the eyes of your audience. And read slowly, paying attention to every word. Avoid the tendency to skim. Then, for each of the following questions, give a rating from 1 to 3, where 1 is ‘very little’ and 3 is ‘completely’. Keep track of your ratings so you can calculate a total score (between 13 and 39) at the end. Enter your scores on the column that says “Self-Rating.”

(b) Mentor-Rating: Now give your LinkedIn summary to a mentor, someone who is close to you and is interested in your success. It could be one of your professors, or a family member or friend who uses LinkedIn. Give them the information about the decision makers you have chosen and ask their opinion on how well your LinkedIn Summary would impress and interest the decision makers you have selected to view you as a potential employee. Please request them to rate your profile using the same scale from 1 (very little) – 3 (completely).
