City council meeting

 

1. Attend a small work group meeting so that you can observe it. Consider going to a city council meeting, a work group, committee meeting, board meeting, problem solving group, etc. Do not use names in your write up. If necessary, you may also watch a small work group in action on television, YouTube, or another format of your choice. Use the information that you read in the five articles and the criteria on the rubric to analyze the group by answering the following questions.
2. Write a 500-700 word document that addresses the following the questions.
Describe at least 2 different roles that were played in the group. Identify the function of the role and the behavior that the person did to demonstrate that particular role.
Identify at least 2 norms that were in play in the group. Describe what you saw.
In what ways do you think (or not think) that Group Think played a role in the function of the group? Write at least 4-5 sentences.
If you were a member of the group, identify least one way you could intervene to increase the productivity of the group. Write at least 4-5 sentences.
Describe the differences between intrapersonal, interpersonal and small group communication. Be sure to address the goals of each kind of communication and the primary skill(s) to effectively participate in each form of communication. Write at least 10 sentences.
