Detailed final reflection
Paper Component
Your final project will be a written component that includes your reflection on the art and practice of teaching in higher education. You will need to be concise, using concrete examples in an efficient manner, to strengthen your arguments. Your work should follow APA (7th Ed.) formatting. The following is a suggested outline for your response/reflection.
Introduction
Briefly introduce the topic you chose, including your interest in exploring the topic through this exercise and its importance in leadership education. This is a good place to connect your ideas to your teaching philosophy.
Background for Teaching Presentation
Describe your process for developing your teaching presentation. Note any concepts from class that you applied while creating your presentation.
Assessment of Teaching Presentation Responses
Review the responses you received to your teaching presentation. Assess the responses using data to support your assessment. Provide feedback as you would if you were giving your peer/the student a grade.
Effectiveness of Teaching
Assess yourself and your effectiveness in teaching through this exercise. One assessment tool you can use is the SWOT analysis. What were the strength and weaknesses of your presentation? What did you find challenging about this exercise? What opportunities do you see for further exploration as you develop your own teaching skills?
Explore the nature of the exercise, teaching virtually using an asynchronous platform. Address concepts like building a classroom environment and developing rapport with students.
What are the opportunities and challenges of doing so in this type of teaching environment?
Implications for Future Practice
As you conclude your reflection, consider areas where you see exploration and experimentation. Include skills you would like to build as you develop as an educator, areas of leadership education content you would like to teach, and ideas you have for developing innovative teaching practices in leadership education.
Where do you hope to go from here?
