“In no fewer than 1,250-1,750 words, double-spaced, 12pt font, Times New Roman:
1) Research one war or armed conflict in the world that happened in the 20th or 21st centuries only. For example: World War I, World War II, the Sudan, the
Ukraine, Northern Ireland, Israel/Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Vietnam, or another armed conflict.
2) Start with a strong topic paragraph that ends with your thesis statement.

What action or incident started the war?
Who are the main participants?
Give each participant’s perspective on why they are fighting this war. What do they believe they are they fighting for?
What are some major moments of the war/turning points?
How were civilians affected during the war?
Find a first person account of each side’s (this can be civilians or participants/soldiers, your choice) experience of the war – two different perspectives.Use
cited quotes from these two separate people. These sources should be on your Works Cited page.
How have the lives of the survivors of each side been changed? Both on the side of the “victor” and on the side of the “defeated.”
How does this relate to the experiences, or the fate, of the Trojan Women? Give specific cited examples from the play.
