The objective of this paper is to understand the public policy process in action. All papers must be on a specific, current bill or propostion.
All papers must be 6-8 pages, double spaced, and written in 12pt. Times New Roman or 11pt. Arial Font, with 1 inch margins. Please NO DIRECT QUOTES.

Part One: Policy Process (12points)
1. Explain the bill/proposition
2. Who/what put it on the agenda
3. Explain the policy formulation (ex. Level of government; What committees?)
4. What is the legitimate way this bill would pass
5. Who are the stakeholders that keep it on the agenda (for or against—role of media, us)
6. If passed, and applicable, how might the courts and/or bureaucracy be involved.
Part Two: Policy Analysis: (13 points)
1. Explain the problem they’re trying to solve or goal of the bill
2. Establish evaluation criteria—i.e. if applicable, how does each provision of meet the goal/solve the problem?
3. Identify alternative policies
4. Assess alternative policies
5. Give your recommendation
