Families in our age encounter many crises. While the crises usually strengthen families, they also often lead to divorce. Recent research has noted that most studies on the impact of divorce compare families that do divorce with those who do not. A new argument has been surfacing in recent years that suggests that a much better comparison would be between families that do divorce and families that face the same difficulties that often lead to divorce but choose to stay together. From our readings, external studies and your life experiences, where and when do you believe divorce has been beneficial? Where has it been destructive? Any good resources: links?
