The indifference curve

The indifference curve is applied to many scenarios a manager will face in the course of his or her job. One application of the indifference curve is how workers view income versus leisure time. As a manager, how could you incentive workers to increase output if direct compensation (increased dollars per hour) was not possible? Are there some ways of incentivizing increased output that is more effective than others?
