Our corrupted police system is nothing

Our corrupted police system is nothing
shocking at this time; several articles,
documentaries, and public statements can
support this claim. Reading only two of many articles, we can directly conclude the abuse of power by law enforcement conducted. The first article 1 read, “Yes, We Mean Literally Abolish the Police,” by Mariame Kaba, has several points that can effectively support this claim. The reforming of police is a solution that will
never benefit the minorities targeted in their communities as they will still have the power to do what they please. The attention brought to petty misdemeanors by law enforcement is ridiculous, and the focus on serious crime is entirely out of place. The safety and reassurance law enforcement is supposed to provide are completely reversed to the opposite where we actually fear them instead. This is not how it is supposed to be; the outraging violence being accepted is a significant issue in our society. The author also
brings up an important point about the reality of rape and how many rapists walk freely without even placing a visit to a courtroom The police are supposed to protect us. As women, it is customary to take precautions about what might occur to us depending on what we wear or what harm might come our way. This precaution should not be necessary for women, as they should feel protected and safe by law enforcement guarding the streets. That is where the issue stands once again. The
focus is elsewhere than the fundamental
importance of essential safety. In the second article, Angela Wright wrote, “How Armed Police Officers on Campus Have Become a Ubiquitous Part of American College Life.” The author heavily criticizes the normalization use of armed police officers on campus. Students attending, being a part of the targeted minorities, are forced to live with the fear that those guns might one day be used towards them instead of being protected against harm
The reality of the ongoing silenced racism is a major ongoing problem. People of color have been violently abused by armed police officers on campus several times due to its allowed corruption. It is saddening to realize that the university police were enforced to protect the university from its students rather than protecting them from harm.
