Part of queer theory involves questions of identity and identity categories. In the course of the Gay Rights Movement, various flags have been created to represent various aspects of sexualities, from the good ol’ rainbow flag to flags representing various orientations, identities, communities, and practices.
We made the point that what we think of as “sexual” and what is involved in “sexuality/ies” is a matter of social construction. If the politics were different and orientation was less of an issue, what might these flags look like if people instead organized around their particular fetishes, kinks, etc?
