ENGL 102-16 Multimodal Composition

Learning Goal: I’m working on a english project and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.

Compare the PBS documentary film on Dr. Jeff Brenner to the article about him in The New Yorker called The Hot Spotters. What are the benefits of telling Dr. Brenners story in writing? What are the benefits of telling it in a film? Which modes of communication are used in each one (aural, visual, gestural, linguistic or spatial )? Which form seems more detailed or thorough? Or do they each contain approximately the same amount of information?

BE SURE TO POINT OUT NEW OR DIFFERENT INFORMATION WE FIND IN EITHER THE ARTICLE OR THE FILM. You wont get a good grade on this if it appears you have not read the full Hot Spotters article in The New Yorker. You need to talk about each version IN SPECIFIC DETAIL. Giving quotes or descriptions of scenes in either one will help you succeed in this project.

WHICH ONE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR SOMEONE WHO KNEW NOTHING ABOUT DR. BRENNER AND HIS WORK WITH POOR PATIENTS IN CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY. WHY? WHICH ONE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR DOCTORS HOPING TO CHANGE THE HEALTH CARE POLICY IN THEIR TOWNS?
