Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) provide strategic services to students based on their needs using (1) systems level monitoring of progress, (2) an evidenced-based core curriculum, and (3) group and one-on-one interventions of varying intensities. This model is used in schools but the same logic could be applied in a clinic or alternative setting.
(1) In terms of screening and progress monitoring, provide a statement identifying what assessment tools you find most appropriate or helpful for determining your clients’ or students’ current functioning and the level of services they are going to need? Why? If you don’t have experience with this, you might talk about a tool mentioned in the article or lecture.
(2) If one of the goals of RtI, which is written into federal legislation, is to evaluate and monitor progress for all students to inform interventions that are designed to close the achievement gap by targeting culturally and ling.
