Your Essay 2 will demonstrate your analysis of something in our/your culture that you’d like to make a point about. Try starting with the approach the authors in our Norton Reader do in Section 4: Cultural Analysis: “takes a specific phenomenon and uses that as the lens through which to examine something larger.” In other words. you’ll be drawing from a specific experience or pattern of experiences to make a larger/more generalized point about us or our culture.
In your essay, you’ll be drawing on your experience(s) or observation(s) to make a larger point about something in our culture. As we read and discuss assigned readings. pay attention to how the authors link their personal experience (stories) to the larger phenomenon (thing in our culture they are making a point about).
