In our culture cancer prevention is presented in commercials and media of individuals who have means, and education for early detection. What is not usually portrayed are families of different race, or people who have to work long hours or two different jobs and overlook taking care of themselves because they have a family to support. When the cancer rate is low for a particular race the mortality rate is high. By the time cancer is detected it is usually time for palliative care in some races.
