Hello Everyone:

One of the props I use for teaching probability in my ground classes is a deck of cards. A standard deck of cards has 52 cards. These cards have four of each value such as four two’s, four three’s, etc. The cards are also split into four different suits. These suits are hearts, diamonds, spades, and clubs. There are 13 of each suit.

With a basic understanding of the deck of cards we can predict the probability of getting certain cards. Let us look at an example.

What is the probability of getting an Ace?

What is the probability of getting a Heart?

What is the probability of getting an Ace of Hearts?
