The Importance of Individualism

Essay One Assignment:  The Importance of Individualism

Both Harrison Bergeron and Dystopia address the need for individualism.  Its your turn.  Write an essay on this topic.  Unlike Harrison who was imprisoned because he was a critical thinker and unlike the citizen in the world of Dystopia who was allowed no expression of creativity, you are free to develop this topic as you wish.  Just make sure you fulfill the musts noted below.

Here are two prior students very different introductory approaches to this assignement:

The Declaration of Independence is a cry for individual freedom.  Written in 1776 and penned by Thomas Jefferson, it is divided into five partsthe introduction, the preamble, the indictments against King George, the denouncement, and the conclusion.  It is often used to study effective use of rhetorical appeals as Jefferson (as well as the new United States) appears most credible, is consistently logical, and is thoroughly engaging.  The signers of The Declaration all shared one core belief: that people are born with individual rights.  This is the basis of the entire document.

More and more researchers now believe that the Coronavirus emerged from a lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China.  What was the result of this lab leak as the disease made its way to  America?  Suddenly, stand-six-feet-apart markers were everywhere.  Masks were required. The choice as to taking vaccines that were labeled experimental led to job losses.  Questioning these vaccines led to being canceled on social media. COVID, it seems, let the government gain a lot of ground as it took away a lot of individual freedom.
