Creating a Positive Work Climate

rganizational CLIMATE can be compared to a weather report – it can be cloudy, thunder storms likely, foggy or calm, sunny, 75 degrees. It is determined many times by the behavior of the designated leader. Much like a thermostat climate can be regulated (or is formed) by the way administrators, staff, participants relate toward each other…IT can be controlled!

Assignment: When going in to present a request or to discuss a problem with your “boss”/ superior, what can he/she say or do to project a NEGATIVE or POSITIVE climate?

1.list at least 5  NEGATIVE behaviors.

2. What about a Positive climate -list 5 behaviors.

3.  E+R=O  Model  …

E = events –  (“blank_____ happens!”)

R = response – I/We respond – say or do something.

O = outcome – we get outcomes or results, desired or not desired.

What is the ONLY one of these 3 elements (E,R,O) that I/we have control over?
