Cultural Sensitivity and Competence in the Social Context

The assignment aims to help students integrate their knowledge of a selected racial/ethnic population, the agency’s community, policies, and
staff/administration with sensitivity to that racial/ethnic population. This experience will help students to assess their implicit or explicit biases toward
human diversity and expand understanding of the process of increasing cultural competence and humility in the mezzo and/or macro environment.
The research paper will comprise three (3) parts:
PART I. This section will explore an agency’s community, access to services of an identified ethnic population, receptivity, administration and staff training,
funding resources, outreach efforts to an ethnic population, and effectiveness and efficiency in the above areas.
PART II: Describe how you might assist your client(s) to explore any areas of difficulty grounded in the relationship between their cultural group, the agency,
or the dominant society.
PART III: Using two of the 10 Cultural Competence Standards in Social Work Practice of the NASW (2015) https://www.socialworkers.org/LinkClick.aspx?

(1) Assess and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the agency you researched, and
(2) Provide your recommendations for improvement.
