Abstract:

The study summarizes in depth the employees of an energy production company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the factors affecting directly and indirectly the fairness of the performance evaluation of the employees of that organization. And based on the qualitative analysis (thematic analysis) of 15 interviews with the organization's employees from various sectors and departments, regardless of their positions. The study proved that the greatest impact on the performance appraisal system is the presence of a binding percentage for evaluation and the absence of administrative awareness to make plans commensurate with the nature of the employees' work that would help measure the real effort of the employees in addition to the absence of communication between the supervisor and the employees effectively. In general, these factors create a toxic and frustrating work environment that does not serve the company's strategy to raise work efficiency and develop the system and employees, which may affect workflow, employee productivity, and a sense of non-belonging. This study focused on the employees' visions in creating a performance appraisal system that achieves stability for the organization and transforms the system into a fair and equitable system.
