Cyber challenges

Project Topic: Cyber challenges faced by people with intellectual and development disabilities (IDD)
– Good programming skills and knowledge or willingness to learn about information retrieval and machine learning
– This project will involve analysis of data collected from Twitter to understand online safety and cyber security challenges faced by people with intellectual
and development disabilities (IDD). Another online social network (OSN) platform, such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and WeChat,
can also be considered as a replacement of Twitter, depending on the student’s interests and data availability. Some OSN platforms have public API, but
others don’t and will need different ways to collect data. Technically, the project will involve automatic harvesting of OSN data, classification of data into
relevant topics, classification of accounts owned by kids and people with IDD and their carers. Some empirical studies such as interviews may also be
helpful, for which the supervisor will help recruit human participants.
I made some analysis on twitter and got a total of 80 profiles of people with IDD (Down syndrome, William syndrome, Learning disability[UK], Intellectual
disability[USA])
I have attached the document containing these profiles below.
This link can also help very well as it is similar to what i am doing. However, it speaks about people with ADHD. Which is not part of the IDD selection i stated above.
Just to clarify our participants do not have ADHD. Rather, they have Down syndrome, William syndrome, Learning disability[UK], Intellectual disability[USA]
