Wrie an engineering dissertation that includes writing a 6,000-8,000-word report as well as a Simulink modelling and simulation, some of it has been done but more work is needed. The project aims to model and simulate a hybrid microgrid (HMG) in MATLAB/Simulink to investigate the dynamics of its operation and ways to improve its performance and control. The study must investigate what affects HMG performance and how it can be worked around. It shall also provide a control mechanism that syncs everything together and makes sure the loads receive their power demands. The study should deliver a MATLAB/Simulink model and simulation that includes a solar PV energy source connected to the AC grid and a battery to store the excess energy. The PV should be connected to the grid using a boost converter to step up the voltage and maintain control over the output of the PV panels. The boost converter shall be controlled using a MPPT controller to extract the maximum power point from the PV source. Then the output of the boost converter shall be inverted to an AC output waveform using an H-bridge 3 phase inverter. The inverter controller shall be a PLL system using Clarke and park transformations and a PI controller to match the frequency, phase, and magnitude of the grid and pv system. The energy storage whenever excess energy is available, is a feature that could also be added.
The Pv, Boost converter, Mppt, H-bridge inverter, and Clarke transform parts of the system have already been designed in Simulink and can be provided to be modified/added upon instead of starting from scratch. A detailed instructions document is available listing the requirements for each section of the report. A sample report done previously can be shared for more inspiration and support to the subject too but shall not be copied from directly.
