Literacy Strategy Model & Reflections

You have already developed a Strategy Notebook that has contained evidence and research-based Instructional Strategies. Additionally, you have
incorporated your needs and interest and reflected best instructional practices in preK-3rd grade classrooms with your Strategy Notebook in Module 6. For
this assignment, you will select one or two of your favorite strategies from your Strategy Notebook to model to incorporate and use this or these strategies
effectively to help enhance student literacy learning. You will need to videotape your demonstration or modeling of the lesson, upload this video in Module 7,
and write a reflection of the strategy connecting it to theory and practice that supports its use in promoting student literacy skills, development, and learning.
Your “Literacy Strategy Model & Reflection” is worth 50 points. Additionally, you can submit this assignment as an additional discussion for an extra point
(Additional Discussion – 20 points)
Expectations
Your task is to upload a video and write a reflection on the strategies you modeled. The Method/Strategy modeling must include the following:
Video Upload: Find a creative way of demonstrating/modeling your strategies as if you are teaching for your grade-level students. Video record yourself, or
you can have a friend record you. Upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo, or another video-sharing site. Be sure to include a link to the video in your
assignment. If you put a password on your video, be sure to include that in the assignment as well.
Reflection: Describe the following:
For what grade level will you be modeling the selected strategies and why;
For what literacy learning objectives or aspects of literacy learning do you think these strategies would be most helpful and why;
How would you modify these strategies to meet the needs of all students in your classroom? How would you differentiate the strategies used in helping
students with different learning needs? Elaborate with specific examples supported by research-based practice on how these differentiations help students
become more skilled readers.
Reflect on whether these strategies would be appropriate in supporting ELL or linguistically diverse groups of students and why these specific strategies
align with how we approach literacy teaching with these groups of students.
