1 Binding theory
For each of the following sentences:
A. Draw a phrase structure tree for the sentence. Include subscripts (i,j,∗i,∗j, etc.) to indicate possible and impossible coreference relations between NPs. Note that some NPs may have more than one possible coreferent, in which case you will need to give it multiple subscripts.
B. For each NP in the sentence, identify whether it is an anaphor, pronoun, or R­expression.
C. For each NP in the sentence, identify its binding domain.
(1) He said that Felix will reward himself.
(2) The book about the president bothered her.
