In class we discussed the concept of net-positive existence (NPE), whereby at the end of one’s life, one has contributed more to society (moving human civilization forward in terms of knowledge, capabilities, creativity, understanding, culture, etc.), on any scale (global, regional, local, family), than resources consumed.
