Interview a parent or guardian whose child is in elementary school. Be sure to ask appropriate questions of the parent to have answers for the main points of this assignment and to fulfill the “Content” portion of the rubric provided. Summarize your findings in a 3-page essay (your APA style coversheet and reference page do not count toward your page limit.) Please do not go more than 6-8 lines over the page limit.

Please also include in-text citations from your textbook and two (2) outside scholarly sources.

Describing the child’s physical development. Include information regarding at least two of the following: (1) height and weight, (2) gross and fine motor skills, and (3) health. Is the child’s physical development normative? Why or why not?

Describing the child’s cognitive development at that time. Incorporate Piaget’s stages of cognitive development or information-processing theory. Is the child’s cognitive development normative? Why or why not?

Describing the child’s socioemotional development. Consider two of the following: (1) Erikson’s psychosocial stages, (2) peer relationships, and (3) gender identity development. Is the child’s socioemotional development normative? Why or why not?

Describing the child’s family relationships, including parenting style, sibling relationships (if applicable), and family structure and processes.

Describing three contextual factors that may be providing or constraining opportunities in development. Think about socioeconomic status, geographic location, quality of school, and safety of the neighborhood (among many others). How did these factors affect physical, cognitive, and socioemotional development?
