One of the most unfair problems Gilmore brings out from pages 1-29 is the unfair treatment people of color experience in the criminal justice system. According to her systemic racism and prejudice are to blame for this imbalance because they are ubiquitous and deeply ingrained. Her observation that the proportion of Latinos and people of color incarcerated in California’s jails is much higher than their representation in the genera community lends credence to this claim. Another thing that was very upsetting was the fact there is a larger percent of minorities inside of the prisons then the percent outside of prisons . According to Gilmore she says that this situation clearly shows how the criminal justice system is affected by racism and prejudice, and it’s not fair.. Overall as i said many times before this prison system is so unfair and its heart aching and it needs to be changed, its not some sort of business that these higher ups should be doing. These are people lives.
