Assignment Choice for My Father Was a Toltec by Ana Castillo
For this assignment choice, you will choose one of Ana Castillo’s poems to emulate. First analyze the poem you are emulating and what you think it means and then what it means to you. Then write your own poem as an echo (ideas that agree with Castillo’s but in your own voice) or response (your own ideas on the matter) to that poem you selected. Lastly, explain the connection of your poem to hers. The total paper and new poem should be 2-2 1/2 pages including the analysis of Castillo’s poem and the writing of yours.
