Complete the following four-day experiment.
Day 1:
When you drink something, pay attention to everything you are feeling while doing so?
Day 2:
Try taking smaller first portions of food than you usually would. Eat slowly and pay attention to each bit. Make sure you pause in between bites. After you eat your first portion, ask yourself if you are still hungry, if you need any more, and how much. Only eat until you are satisfied, not full.
Day 3:
Try a new fresh fruit or vegetable. Note the color, texture, smells, tastes, and also your reactions.
Day 4:
When you feel a craving, ask yourself what you really feel like eating. If it is something unhealthy, ask yourself if there is anything else that may satisfy that craving. Spend a few minutes making a decision on what you should eat. Once you have chosen something, pay attention to how your body responds when it eats the food. Does it relax? Does it get more anxious? Does your heart race? Do you feel satisfied? When you have decided how you reacted the first time, try a different food to satisfy the craving and ask yourself the same questions. Ask yourself which food actually made your body and mind feel better.
Assignment to Turn in:
Once you have completed the four days, write a paragraph on your experiences. Also include at least two places were families in your community can find healthy food.
