Leadership opportunities

Student leadership opportunities help equip students with real-life skills that they can call upon for years to come. The many student activities that our schools offer—clubs, athletics, student government, and so on—provide leadership roles and responsibilities. In addition, there are peer leadership programs and organizations that provide specific mentorship, coaching, and instruction related to communication skills, organizing groups, managing challenging situations, and other important peer leadership topics.

Create a table or chart describing 5 to 7 organizations (local, state, and/or national) that support the development of student leadership in schools.

Provide the following information for each organization in your table or chart:

Name and a link to its website
Description of the mission and targeted audience
Explanation of the membership and/or cost requirements
Explanation of the organization’s importance in relation to your students
Description of the resources available to students from the organization
Possible legal implications of the organization of which an administrator should be made aware
