A local urban redevelopment government agency has decided to develop a new facility with novel anaerobic digestion (AD) technology to convert food waste into biogas to generate electricity. The technology will reduce the polluting wastes and transform them into renewable energy for achieving a zero-waste economy. Write a technology report to explain and recommend which AD technology should be used to meet the energy generation target. Your report should include the following:
1. Provide a general background on anaerobic digestion (AD) technology for converting food waste into energy.
2. Explain the working principle o f AD technology.
3. Elaborate on at least THREE factors affecting AD technology.
4. Calculate the energy content of Wages produced in a day in kilowatt-hours (kWh) for both AD1 a ndAD2. (Assuming the energyvalue of methane is9.97 kWh/N m3)
5. Calculate the electricity generated for AD1 and AD2, and hence determine which AD technology could meet the energy target mentioned above. (Assuming the electricity efficiency is 45% of the power generator and the availability of the power generator is 8,400 hours per year)
