Tell us your story. What unique opportunities or challenges have you experienced throughout your high school career that have shaped who you are today?
I am 18 years old, throughout high school I make friends easily and pretty much get along with everyone. I would say that I am an above average student.
In this paper I want to write about my experience with having strict parents here are some details;
– I was rarely allowed to go out with friends even at an older age, they have been strict if about it.
– I felt extreme pressure to do good in school because of their high expectations.
– I wasn’t also allowed to participate in a lot of school events (only some) as well as field trips.
– This made me miss out a lot of the fun through out high school and despite having lots of friends, I’ve always felt alone and insecure about not being able to go out.
– Sometimes I feel some hate towards them for making me miss out on these stuff, but at the same time I always try my best to match their expectations with my grades.
– My relationship with them is quite complicated, we were never expressive about love and affection and they’re your typical asian parents.
– As I grow older I realized that it was their way of loving and protecting me, even though I disagree with it, I start to see their point of view.
– These experiences shaped me to always be wary and careful of the outside and in a way, protected me from a lot of things.
