The role of a consultant

Scenario #1: Assume the role of a consultant, providing information to a Board. The
Board of Directors for a local, urban, not-for-profit food bank is looking to determine if
they should add perishable food rescue services, as there are a number of large
companies in the area that have large kitchens and significant excess food. You have
been asked to provide information about the potential benefits of food rescue to help the
Board make the decision.
Scenario #2: Assume a leadership position, providing information to staff. You are the
executive director of homeless shelters in a large city, and your monthly data is showing
an increase in women from different cultures with young children requesting shelter
related to domestic violence. The staff has asked for more information about best
practices for understanding the needs of this group.
Scenario #3: Assume the role of a practicing practitioner, providing information to
service users. You are a case manager in a human services housing authority agency,
and you want to provide information for service users with AIDS about housing
opportunities
