factors that are and can be regulated through policy that impact nursing workforce.

Consider aspects of safe staffing standards. There are many components to consider including nurse/patient ratios; however, often ratios are the main focus
of discussion. Review the literature for a peer-reviewed article that was published within the last 5 years related to safe staffing and address the following

Does the article support or oppose safe staffing regulation?
Outline components to consider with safe staffing standards. Ratios may be included, but what other components should be considered to include in safe
staffing standards?
Consider social, political, ethical, and economic factors on the workforce.
What are the potential benefits of safe staffing standards?
What are potential negative consequences of staffing standards?
Are you in favor of federal regulation for staffing levels? Provide a rationale.
- With the current nursing workforce shortage, it is important to assess expansion of the workforce and retaining current nurses. Choose one of the
following topics and discuss the concepts and how the issue can be
addressed to improve the nursing workforce shortage.
Increasing nursing student enrollment and addressing the faculty shortage
Increasing diversity in the nursing workforce and addressing racism in nursing
Improve nurse retention and improving workplace conditions to improve nurse satisfaction.
How can nurses inform and influence the development of health policy related to information technology? How does the use of information technology in
health care impact reimbursement in nursing?
