What Defines a Good Leader?
This unit strongly emphasizes the traits and abilities of leaders. What are some of the traits that you think natural-born leaders possess? What leadership traits do you think can be developed?
Followership is mentioned as a trait of a leader, and is considered an art as many of the traits of a follower are also that of an effective leader. How important is it for an effective leader to be an effective follower? Can a great leader have one trait and not the other? Why?
Discuss current or past employers who were effective leaders and others who were ineffective leaders even though they held the position of authority. What traits made them effective or ineffective and what traits could they have gained, at a minimum, to be effective and successful.
