public health
Paper instructions:
Every five years, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) publish Dietary Guidelines for Americans. A significant amount of public health nutrition policy, education and programs are based on the Dietary Guidelines.
Given the important role of the Dietary Guidelines in public health nutrition policy in the U.S. and what you have learned from this week’s readings, do you feel that they meet the requirements for effective food-based dietary guidelines (FBDG) as discussed in your textbook?
Are all of the guidelines appropriate? Do you feel that they address the most important public health nutrition problems in the nation? Are there any that you feel are not as important, and perhaps take attention away from more important issues? Would you change any of them? Are there any guidelines that you would like to add? Use reputable sources to support your answers.
Please answer these questions in 400 to 600 words and post your work by Tuesday at 11:55 p.m. Remember to include in-text and reference list citations as appropriate in proper APA style. You may find the Purdue Online Writing Lab useful.
Please also respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts with substantive answers. A substantive answer is not simply an agreement or disagreement. It contributes to the discussion by adding analysis or reasoning.
